UNIT 1: Intro to Science

Essential Skills for Unit 1:

1. Understand the sequential order of the scientific method and apply to classroom investigations.
2. Identify independent and dependent variables (manipulated and responding) in controlled experimentation.
3. Read, interpret, and create scientific tables and graphs.
4. The student will be able to demonstrate and use the following scientific tools while implementing the International System of Measurements (Metric System): Beakers, graduated cylinders, flasks, metric balances, metric rulers, meter sticks, Test tubes, safety equipment, alcohol burners, calculators, computers, microscopes, Newton scales, dissecting equipment, and thermometers.
